Missing Speedyroute Free Route Planner? Here Are 6 Alternatives for 2025

Speedyroute's gone, but these 6 free alternatives will help you plan efficient multi-stop routes — from quick errands to small business deliveries.

- Speedyroute shut down in February 2025, leaving a gap for occasional users who need free route planning without committing to paid subscriptions.
- RouteXL offers the best free alternative with up to 20 stops per route, clean interface, and no ads — ideal for small businesses and individuals planning efficient multi-stop routes.
- MapQuest allows up to 26 stops for free but shows distracting ads and has weaker address recognition, making it better for printed directions than mobile navigation.
- Routific's Chrome extension lets you optimize up to 25 stops directly in Google Maps, combining a familiar interface with professional route optimization.
- For growing delivery businesses, Routific's free tier provides 100 stops per month plus advanced features like multi-driver planning, customer tracking links, and proof of delivery.
- Mobile apps like MyWay and Circuit Route Planner work well for drivers who need on-the-go route optimization, though free versions are limited to 10-15 stops.
- Free tools hit computational limits around 20-25 stops — beyond that, businesses should invest in professional route optimization software that pays for itself through time and fuel savings.
Speedyroute was a free route planner that provided a quick, easy way to optimize routes of up to 10 stops. It was a great tool for anyone who needed to plan an efficient route around multiple stops, but didn’t want to sign up to pay for route planning software as a regular user.
Unfortunately, Speedyroute shut down in February 2025. That left a big gap for many people who need to plan efficient routes — but only sometimes, not every day. For these people, signing up for a regular subscription service is not worth it. This includes:
- Individuals who want to run a lot of errands and are looking for the shortest route between their stops.
- Small businesses that make regular rounds to the same set of addresses, like landscaping companies, pool maintenance crews, or housekeeping services.
- Charities that do food or recycling drives around holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas.
If you have this kind of route planning need, and you miss Speedyroute, here are the top alternatives that still work in 2025. We’ve included both desktop and mobile options.
1. RouteXL
What you can do: Optimize 20 stops per route, for an unlimited number of routes per day.
Platform: Web only

RouteXL is an excellent free route planner for occasional users. We like the clean map view, without any ad clutter (unlike Google Maps or Mapquest).
The major features of RouteXL are:
- You can optimize up to 20 stops per route in the free version, and create more than one route per day.
- Paid packages allow up to 100 or 200 stops per route.
- Add addresses by copying and pasting, or upload from an Excel spreadsheet or CSV file.
- You can add notes to your stops.
- Share your optimized route to a navigation app like TomTom, or send via email or Whatsapp.
There are some limitations you should consider:
- There’s no mobile app. When you send a RouteXL route to your phone, it will open in a web browser as a list of stops. For navigation, it uses Apple Maps or Google Maps, depending on your phone.
- You can only plan one route at a time. If you need to plan multiple routes on the same day, say if you have several trucks making deliveries, you’ll need more powerful route optimization and delivery management software like Routific.
How to get the most out of RouteXL: Use the web app to pre-plan your route in your web browser, then send the route to your phone to get driving directions.
Pricing
If you want to plan 26 stops or more with RouteXL, you need to buy credits. There are two pricing tiers:
- Up to 100 stops per route: €5 per day or €35 per month.
- Up to 200 stops per route: €10 per day or €70 per month.
2: MapQuest Route Planner
What you can do: Optimise 26 stops per route, for unlimited routes.
Platform: Web only (the MapQuest mobile app, doesn’t allow multi-stop route planning).

MapQuest Route Planner is old — it’s been around since 1996 — but they’re a good alternative to RouteXL for free route planning. They also allow for up to 26 stops, so if you need a slightly longer route then this is your best option.
The major features of MapQuest are:
- It allows up to 26 stops in one route.
- It can do basic route optimization if you check the “let us re-order stops” option.
- You can upload a list of addresses using copy/paste or a spreadsheet.
- It’s easy to print out a map or detailed driving directions.
Read our article on how to use MapQuest for detailed instructions.
Limitations you should know about:
- MapQuest supports its ability to offer free route mapping by showing ads, which can be distracting.
- Their geocoding — the process of interpreting addresses and placing them on a map — isn’t great, and you may get sent to the wrong place. Be sure to double check your map locations.
- Multi-stop route planning is only available on their web-based platform, and it’s difficult to send a route to your phone or share it with someone else.
- There is no paid upgrade option for MapQuest.
How to get the most out of MapQuest: Use the web page to get an efficient, optimized route, then print out the driving directions. On the road, use an app like Google Maps or Waze for actual navigation.
Pricing
There is no paid option for MapQuest. If you want more sophisticated route optimization software to support delivery operations, you’ll need to check out RoadWarrior, their paid app.
3. Routific Chrome Extension for Google Maps
What you can do: Optimize up to 25 stops on Google Maps
Platform: Chrome browser on desktop only.

Google Maps is great for finding the best route from one point to another, but it can’t do multi-stop route planning. You can add up to 10 stops and then drag and drop stops to create a better route, but nothing more.
Routific’s Chrome extension for Google Maps fills the gaps. The major features are:
- Optimize up to 10 stops directly inside Google Maps.
- Get up to 25 stops by combining addresses using the free More Than 10 tool.
- Send your route directly to a phone, or save the link for later use.
The limitations you should consider are:
- The extension only works inside Google Maps in the Chrome browser.
- You will need to give the extension limited access to your Google account so that it can change your Google Maps.
How to get the most out of the Routific Chrome Extension for Google Maps: Plan ahead in a desktop Chrome browser, then save the link to your optimized route so you can access it from your iPhone or Android phone later.
Pricing
The Routific Chrome extension is free forever. Those who want route optimization software with more advanced functionality for their delivery process should check out Routific proper (covered in more detail below).
4. Routific
What you can do: Optimize up to 150 stops a month for free, including multiple drivers.
Platform: Desktop only (with free mobile driver app)

The free version of Routific includes up to 100 stops a month. This is a good option if you’re a last-mile delivery or field service business and more advanced functionality than you get from a simple route planner.
The main features of Routific are:
- Optimize across multiple vehicles or drivers at the same time.
- Dispatchers can easily send routes to the free driver app, available for both iOS and Android.
- A real-time tracking link to share with customers so they know when to expect their deliveries.
- A dashboard with delivery metrics to help with driver management and payroll.
- Import users via spreadsheet or use Routific’s two-way API to import from Shopify, WooCommerce, or an order management system.
- Customer notifications via email.
- Photo or signature proof of delivery via the driver app.
The limitations you should be aware of:
- SMS notifications are not available on the free tier.
How to get the most out of Routific: Routific’s 100 free stops per month are ideal for businesses that are just starting out. Let the algorithm decide the optimum number of routes you need to complete all your stops, and take full advantage of the extra features like the live tracking link and proof of delivery. This can help new delivery services create a professional image and a great customer experience with minimal resources.
Pricing
Routific’s freemium pricing model is based on the number of orders scheduled.
- The first 100 orders every month are free, to accommodate the needs of very small businesses, non-profits, and occasional users.
- 100-1,500 orders: $150 a month.
- Above 1,500 orders we charge a few cents per stop. Pricing starts at 15c a stop up to 2,000 orders a month, going down to 3c a stop for more than 20,000 orders a month.
5. MyWay
What you do: Optimize up to 15 stops per route for free
Platform: iOS and Android

MyWay isn’t as popular or full-featured as Circuit Route Planner, the next app in this list — but if your priority is free route planning and you want the highest number of stops possible, MyWay’s 15 free stops are better than Circuit’s 10.
The main features MyWay offers are:
- Add stops one by one, import from a spreadsheet — or upload from a photograph of a printed list.
- Optimize routes right on your phone.
- Add notes, time windows, high-priority flags and more.
- Navigate using your choice of Google Maps, Apple Maps, Waze, HERE WeGo, Maps.Me, Organic Maps, or Yandex.
- Mark stops as done or failed.
The limitations to bear in mind are:
- You can’t get a signature or take a photo as proof of delivery.
- If your route includes more than 15 stops, you will hit the paywall barrier and have to sign up for a monthly plan before you can see your route.
How to get the most out of MyWay: If you don’t do a lot of stops every day, MyWay is an excellent free route planner that you can use on your phone. If your volumes increase so that you’re exceeding the 15-stop limit often, you will probably save time and money by switching to a paid plan.
Pricing
MyWay is the only route planner we’ve found that offers different price plans in different countries. If you have a weak currency and paying in US dollars makes most apps too expensive for you, check MyWay’s pricing in your local App Store or Google Play Store.
In the US, there two payment options if you want up to 200 stops per day:
- Monthly plan: $9.99
- Annual plan: $84.99
6. Circuit Route Planner
What you can do: Optimize up to 10 stops per route
Platform: iOS and Android

Circuit was Speedyroute’s parent company, and if you try to visit the old website today, Circuit is where you will find yourself instead. The company has two relevant products:
- Circuit for Teams is a great, user-friendly option for small businesses that need to plan multiple delivery routes. It has competitive pricing, but there is no free tier.
- The Circuit Route Planner app is a mobile app for delivery drivers who want to plan the best route for their delivery each day. The app is very popular, with over 10 million downloads and excellent reviews — but it comes at a price.
Since we’re looking at replacements for Speedyroute’s free route planning, Circuit for Teams is out. These are the main features of Circuit Route Planner, the mobile app:
- You can add stops from the map, import a spreadsheet, use voice recognition, or scan from your phone’s camera.
- Stops can also be rolled over or re-added from previous routes.
- A package finder that lets you record where each package is stored in your vehicle, and find it again easily at the right stop.
- Navigate inside the app, or using your choice of Google Maps, Waze, Apple Maps, or HERE WeGo.
- Mark stops as delivered or failed, and make notes with photographs as proof of delivery.
The limitations you should know about are:
- You can’t plan more than 10 stops per route on the free plan.
- Circuit does offer a low-cost Lite plan, but with limited features. You won’t be able to add stops by voice or camera, use the Package Finder, set time windows or use their in-app navigation.
How to get the most out of Circuit Route Planner: If you’re an occasional user, use RouteXL or the Routific Chrome extension instead. If you’re a professional delivery driver, the pro plan on Circuit Route Planner is a great upgrade option that will almost certainly save you more money than the monthly fee.
Pricing
Circuit Route Planner has three pricing tiers:
- Free: All the features, but only 10 stops per route.
- Lite: $10 a month for unlimited stops, but some features are excluded.
- Standard: $20 a month for unlimited stops, all features.
Frequently Asked Questions
When is it worth paying for route planning and route optimization software?
If you’re using route planning software to streamline workflows in a delivery business, free tools will eventually become a bottleneck. The signs that it’s time to upgrade include:
- You're regularly hitting stop limits on free tools
- You need to plan routes for multiple drivers simultaneously
- You need features like delivery time windows or customer notifications
- You’re struggling to predict accurate ETAs and plan driver shifts
- Dealing with “where is my delivery?” calls from customers is taking up a lot of time
- You’re spending more than an hour per day on route planning.
For delivery businesses making 25+ stops every day, professional route optimization software can typically pay for itself quickly. The cost of a subscription is usually far less than what you'll save in driver wages and fuel costs from more efficient routes.
Why isn’t there a free route planner than can optimize more than 20 or 25 stops?
Route optimization algorithms are computationally expensive to run. The more stops you add, the more complex the math becomes — this is the famous traveling salesman problem. Even with just 10 stops, there are over 3 million possible route combinations. With 25 stops, that number jumps to over 15 trillion combinations. Running these calculations requires significant server resources, which costs money. Free tools like Speedyroute could afford to offer basic optimization because they kept the stop limit low. Beyond that threshold, companies need to charge users to cover their infrastructure costs.
